Capri and Pompeii Tour - Excursions from Port

With this shore excursion we will take you to the discovery of "the island of the mermaids", as identified by Capri in Greek mythology. Famous for its beauty, its mild and temperate climate, its landscape, and its millenary tradition, Capri has always been associated with glamorous and elite tourism. A pearl in the middle of the sea, with cliffs carved by caves and coves and surrounded by rocks with fantastic shapes. The island is famous, among other things, for its decorations, variety and the richness of its buildings that create extraordinary scenarios. To visit the island's center with its "Piazzetta," where you can enjoy a good coffee or a drink, and the shopping street; via Krupp and the Gardens of Augustus, an essential stop from which to admire the famous Faraglioni, a symbol of the island. And again the Blue Grotto, whose name derives from the seabed's magnificent color reflected throughout the cave, and the splendid Villa San Michele in the municipality of Anacapri, a small center of white houses, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Pompeii, city of the Roman Empire, was founded in the 6th century BC. and destroyed together with Herculaneum, Oplonti and Stabia, during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Buried under several meters of volcanic sediment, preserved from bad weather and looting, the city fell into oblivion for fifteen centuries. The state of conservation of the ancient Roman city is, however, remarkable and the excavations undertaken since the 18th century will bring to light a thriving city, a precious testimony of the urban planning and civilization of ancient Rome. The archaeological site and Herculaneum have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1997.
